Gajnur Dam (20kms) :This dam is built across Tunga river. Vast stretch of backwater with the background of green hillocks is a delightful view.
Lion and Tiger safari at Tyavarekoppa (43kms) :Lion and tiger here are more healthy and dynamic in their natural habitat than in the zoo. The protective fencing covers a large area. Forest department arrange safari to view them and also other animals reared in the area.
Chibbalagudde (41kms) : Famous for fish aquarium. There is a temple on the bank of the
Sakrebyle elephant camp(17kms) :After capturing and taming the wild elephants, they are kept in this camp. In the morning hours they enjoy bathing in the back water of Gajnur dam taking instructions obediently from their respective mahuts. This is a delightful scene.
Jog Falls:Magnificent world famous water falls is situated at a distance of 104 Kms from Shimoga via Sagar and Talaguppa. The river Sharavathi takes a spectacular leap from a height of 292 meters (900 feet) in 4 distinct falls, Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket, to form the highest waterfalls in India. The best time to visit these falls are soon after monsoon during July-August.
